They are charged with following federal and state laws as well as developing policies and procedures about medication administration specific to their facility.The role of the correctional officer in medication administration varies by facility. While you may not have the direct responsibility of dispensing medications, you likely have other responsibilities related to the process. As such, it is important that you are familiar with the proper procedures for dispensing medications.The goal of this course is to provide correctional officers working in adult jails and prisons with information on medication administration and their potential roles and responsibilities in this important process.
